Questions about hpx 170

Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a 170 to add to my fleet. Can the fs100 be used with the 170 the same way it can be used with the 200a? Also in well lit conditions do the hvx200a and the hpx170 produce similar images so that they can be used together in multicam? If I buy a 170 i will sell one of my 200a's and therefore need to use the 170 and 200a together some times. Lastly, does the 170 have a 4 or 6 pin fire wire port? I thought it had a 4 but some pictures seem to show a 6? It could have been a modified one.

Lastly, Anyone got any decent priced used packages? Keep in mind i can buy one new from B&H for 3400.

Thanks,
Cody

Firestore FS-100 works with the 170 albeit with a different firewire cable. It has six pin out of the cam, which addressed the poorly placed and connected 4 pin on the 200/a.

I matched the 200a with the 170 before although the 170 is better in low light.

Check the marketplace. I see them there often.

thanks for the info David. The 6 pin fire is nice, I hate the 4 pin on my 200a since its so fragile. As a rental cam I'm sure some client will break it some day.

that had to be one of the biggest complaints about the original 200.

I've gotten where I resist using the FW port on the cam altogether.

Yea it is the same on the dvx...I thought Panny was 4 pin across the board. My 200a has 109 hours on it and just moving it around a lot on a tripod will cause a disconnect. There is enough room in the cam for a 6 pin port (I opened it up on and old cam with broken firewire). Someone should sell a replacement board and plastic shell with a 6 pin port upgrade. The plastic peice isn't that large so the new cover wouldn't be a huge deal. The circuit board is only about an inch square an plugs into another board. With the right hardware you wouldn't need to even solder to replace it.
