Question for mac users

I understand that with imacs you cannot add a lit of ram or another graphics card and other stuff like that, is this still true?

batutta so on your POV you would say that a imac is more than enough for 1080 DVCPROHD is that right?

Yes, although I'd say that would be near the upper limit of what you could comfortably edit with Firewire 800, which is the real bottleneck, not the processor.

Yes, you're limited to the built in graphics card and 4gb of ram.

I work om 1080 on an imac, the 20" with the slower processor, all the time.

Sometimes I can work in full quality playback and sometimes it drops down to medium, which is still very good, more than enough to work with while editing.

Apple's pro apps are QT-based, hence the lack of native mxf editing. However, there is no generation loss in unwrapping mxf to QT. it also permits me to log my clips as well.

iMac is fine because you aren't using FW for capturing, but remember that the only import is via the cam or p2 store.

Get the one with the biggest video card.
