question for folks who've had glitches with macs...

do you have multiple spaces in the name of the folder where your P2 content is stored?

for example:

"P2 footage monday"

i would suggest in the future when you name folders, you use underscores instead of spaces and no special characters.

"P2_footage_monday"

i also use ALL CAPS for my folder names

"P2_FOOTAGE_MONDAY"

im not saying this is definitely THE problem. but it does seem to be a recurring situation for folks having problems...

being one of the lifetime, drag and drop, no-write-protect people, whos never had a problem. im trying to figure out why so many people have issues with the glitches, red exclamations and other such unhappiness...

I am glad that someone else is still thinking about the glitch. Most recently I had it happen on a shoot with Peter Guber (mandalay entertainment) and was not a happy camper.

My workflow uses P2CMS, verification on, write protect on and has folders named something like this: Project Name / P2A / CONTENTS + Lastclip.txt.

I will start eliminating the spaces in my project name folder as I have had the glitch on a total of two occasions. Once with an HVX200 and once with an HPX500 (and yes, write protect was enabled and P2CMS verification was on when the glitch happened).

Up until last month (and both times when the glitch happened), I used either an older 15" MBP running Tiger or a 17" Unibody MBP running Leopard together with the Dual Adaptor. I have since changed over the the PCD2 and 17" Unibody MBP running Snow Leopard. Despite minor disappointments for USB2 over e-sata or FW800 on the PCD2, I am quite happy with the new workflow. No glitch so far...

i have another theory that firewire400 may have something to do with it. as both my hvx200 and hpx170 had a hard time making contact with various macs for firewire transfer.
though somehow, shooting live to the computer via firewire has never been an issue.

I have heard that the glitch is more likely to happen when transferring to an external FW drive, so there is definitely something to consider there.
