question about the wide angle lens for the xl-h1

Hi,

I am interested in Canons Wide Angle lens..But i need to know if the zoom, if turned to manual, is really independent from the servo.. Cause with Xl-H1 stock lens even in manual mode its still driven electrical..so not fast enough sometimes..

also.. is it good Quality? Is the Iris control seamless?
