Question about squeeze and letterbox

If you shoot squeeze mode how does it look on a 4 x 3 tv DVD? Will it look stretched? Does it try to fill up the whole screen?

And letterbox, what happens when you have a letterboxed dvd? How does it look on a widescreen tv?

Squeeze mode looks stretched vertically on 4:3 TVs.

Letterbox mode (being 4:3 video with black bands) looks stretched horizontally with black bands on the top and bottom. You'd need to adjust the TV to crop out the letterbox bands by blowing up the centre 16:9 section out of the original 4:3 shape.
