Question about Sony A7SII.

Hello everyone,

I have history with canon cameras but I was looking to move to maybe the A7s2 but I have a few questions. Right now I have the canon 5d2 with some EF lenses. After reading around, I cannot find a clear answer as to whether I will get vignetting using adapters(metabones, fotodiox, etc) with the canon lenses while shooting UHD on the A7s2.

The lenses are ef 35mm/2, nikon ais 50mm/1.4(with canon adapter, no glass), ef 50mm/1.2, 85mm/1.8 and nikon ais 135mm/2(canon adapter again, no glass).
Will the following lenses work on the A7s2 without vidgetting(using canon to sony E adapter) at UHD(full frame)?

Also has anyone seen improvements in quality using the odyssey 7q+ on prores & prores HQ vs sony's internal 4k mp4?

Nab 2016 is around the corner too... I'm in no rush to purchase anything right now.

thanks for reading.

No vignetting indeed. Just make sure you get a good adapter that allows you to control iris from the camera (the standard metabones iv is a common suggestion, but I'm not an expert on this).

The a7S II recording internally is already is a huge improvement over a 5D2. Recording externally is also an improvement from the internal codec, but not so big.

Also, one could consider A7RII, which is its best while shooting 4K in its s35 crop mode.

... But will it shoot without vignette as well at full frame (UHD) too?
It's the same size sensor - full frame- as A7SII. It has a bit less of a low light excellence but it produces sharper 4K from 15 MPX (i.e., it's an oversampling sensor). The rolling shutter is worse and the full frame 4K has line skipping but it's a better stills camera with 42 MPX and has better auto-focus than A7SII (especially with Sony lenses).

A sound point, however, I will mostly use this camera for videos. Even at full frame 12MP, it is a worthy opponent. I could keep the 5d2 for photos in that case.

What are your predictions for Nab 2016 dvxuser?

Can you monitor HDMI out while recording internally simultaneously? 4k internal and 1k out?
