Not surprisingly, we plan to handle service a bit different than the others. We are not quite ready to discuss our plan. I learned a long time ago that a product can get you into a business, service keeps you there.
I understand if you can't answer my following question (it's cool...really), but are you able to comment if there will be some sort of authorized service centres, or if people will have to deal exclusively with RED for any maintenance, repairs, etc...

Based on your quoted message above, feel free to respond with "no comment"

thanks

we spoke to and with different red people - including jim at IBC this year. I am sure red will find a good way for all the service and maintainance problems - i think they also have to discuss to find a way for training methods.

there should be companies in each country offering these services. that´s important !

That I think is key- sure most probably know their way around a camera- but I too would like to attend a training session where how to optimally use the Red One camera and all it's parts.

anyway - i think rental companies are the best way to distribute know how and way of work - they have all the experience from every customer - and can distribute this knowledge. they have technical background, mostly the have all lenses and stuff around the camera - red is a rental product - in my opinion !

Being able to fully trust whoever is going to service or more importantly fix your "whatever" if something goes wrong is very important.

There are no shortage of true stories of people being ripped off by repair companies claiming YOUR camera required xxxx amount of money to replace parts that were not faulty. It is a worry for sure:(

No one minds paying a fair price for a genuine repair, but these days you hear more stories than ever about people being ripped off by less than honest companies or individuals. I am sure red will only use people they can fully trust.

Note: i refer to all aspects of life rather than just videography by the way.

mke, maybe there are some "ripping" companies - but there are also a good number making fair and reasonable jobs...
