question about mixing footage

I'm going to be shooting a band in a few weeks and I'm looking to use an xha1 as a B-cam to my hmc. I would like them to be the same framerate in the end.

Is there a way I can convert the 30i footage or 24f footage to play normal speed at 24p?

Or am I forced to shoot 60i on both cameras and have the video play at 29.976 (eww)

Why would you have to convert the XHA1? Just shoot it in 24F, and the HMC150 at 24p; both will record 23.976 fps. Just keep in mind you'll have to use that XHA1 to digitize the footage with.

24f should be good !
I would should in 1080p with the hmc , because the canon xha1 gots some extra res and 1080p from the hmc will match the footy much better.

Forsome reason canon isnt allowed or doens't want to call it 24p. ODnt know which one anymore.
But it looks good to me.IF your not sure there are plenty of examples of xha1 24f videos on vimeo that look just as good as hmc 150 24p and ofcourse we are just comparing framerates here.

Well as you say, Canon "isn't allowed to call it 24p" because technically it isn't 24p. They take some technical shortcut that isn't "true" 24p, so they call it 24f to differenciate it.

Really I have no idea what I'm talking about... this is just the jist that I gather. If you'd like to know there's tons of talk about this on the 'net. :)
