Question about HF S100

I've been shopping for a Canon and from what I've read on the Canon site all of the HD Canons can record in anything from SD to full 1920x1080 HD. A class 4 memory card is required for full HD. On all their models it says 24P and 30P record at 60i. I don't know how they can call it progressive in that case.

Most record at 60i unless you get into the really expensive professional cams. And at that, i think there was only one that can record in true 30p... don't quote me though.

I already have the HF S100 and a class 6 32g Transcend card. I am just curious how the GH1 would cut in with clips form the HF S100. All I have right now is a cam and that's it. I mean no software etc. I do have a 8g Q9650 custom machine that I'm hoping will be up to the task with AVCHD... I'm just starting out and alot of the camera and video talk is mumbo jumbo to me - hehe.

I know what you mean. I've been using a DVX but now I want to go HD. I'm not shelling out 3 grand for a prosumer cam though. From what I've read more software is available that handles AVCHD better. I read about a cheap software, $59, that creates Proxy files of low resolution allowing you to edit in real time and when you render it comes out in full HD. I'm still undecided weather to go HDV or AVCHD.

I think with my second Q9650 machine, I could sell most of it off for an i7 platform if it comes down to editing issues; which i have a long time before finding out. Thanks for sharing commalot
