I just want to get an understanding about using external mics in general.
I read about how people generally get a recorder+mic combo... typically H4n coupled with a rode/mke/or some unidirectional mic. What I'm curious about is what is the point of getting an H4n if all that is required is to grab audio from an external mic? Why not get a cheaper recorder... say an H2? Is there any benefit to getting an H4n versus something vastly cheaper?
