Question about buying the HVX200

I am going to be in the market for the HVX 200 in a couple of months, I currently have two DVX 100p's I LOVE the camera's I bought them about 4 years ago, I wish they were DVX-100B's for the 16:9 feature, the only reason I am buying new camera's is for the HD and 16:9, I need to buy two and only had a budget of $8000, so I will try and find two gently used camera's with low hours, my question is what is the newest version of this camera (P, A, B) what is the difference? with my DVX 100P the A and B colors were more rich and the 100B's offered 16:9, should I stay away from the 1st version of the HVX 200 ?
thanks much !

Not sure what the P or B is, I think A is the newest. I have the original 200 and it still works great. Be cautious of some of the web sites, they may be offering the Japanese version at a cheaper price--you don't want it.

Anyone else??

The newest and only available US NTSC version is the AG-HVX200A.

If you do not need the tape option I would suggest to buy the AG-HPX170 which is exactly the same with HD-SDI outputs which is the best, by large.

You might get two new units at B&H including the $500 rebate for less that $8,600... AND a P2 E-Series 16GB card included per camcorder.

This AG-HPX170 P2HD Solid-Stare Camcorder is as wonderful as our beloved HVX200A!

Good luck.

Cheers!

If you want an HD-DVX that is the HMC-150. You can pick up two of those for about 7K. No VFR but these little things shoot a really pretty picture.

With the emergence of so many new cams (5D MK II, GH1, 200a, HPX170) there is a a ton of HVX200s in the second hand market. Some going for under 4K. There are some in the marketplace and a small army on EBAY.

If it were my money I would save up another 1500 bucks and grab a pair of 170s, or Get one HPX300.

Good Luck
