Question about 7D and AF

Hello guys. I'm going to shoot some videos alone where i'll be talking static to the dslr and a bit further from it. I would like to know how reliable is AF? Since i'll be alone, i guess manual will be impossible, since i have to shoot the start button and for the place. And with the AF isn't there a tendency to pull focus at the worst times and unwanted locations?

Hi

On a 7D I would close down the aperture enough to keep you in focus within your range of movement. Which is a nice way of saying the 7D is not up to what you are asking it. I have both a 7D and a 70D. 70D could be made to work. So I am seconding the advice above.

Maybe get a friend to operate the 7D and pull focus?
