So on my up comming feature film im fighting with the director about using both cameras for camera angles. He only wants to stick with the 7D for ALL of our shots. However it would just be less time consuming and quicker to be using two camer angles in post ect.

However i do understand where he is comming from where i too am concerned.... How will the two look together? I need to win this debate with him because this is an important time saver for only a 3 week shoot, having two cameras going. Anyone give there input id love it.... :Drogar-Shock(DBG):

He just doesnt want people to view it and notice oh they used two cameras and easly see a difference in quality. They are going straight to DVD/streamed online. But i believe theres a way to make them both look similiar without loosing the 7D quality. Any tips??

Justin

PS. The HMC-150 is our designated audio recorder. Using a boom mic.

o boy...

If its going to DVD (480i) and online I assume around the same resolution - you have a lot less to worry about... that's a significant reduction in quality for both cams.

Dont forget - Using 2 different cams is also going to add time to your work flow... trial and error trying to match 'the look' with both settings and in post.

The thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't tell you if both camera's were shot in 720 or 1080 and if it was shot in 60, 30, or 24p. Also I think it's the stock lens on the 7d because it's not as good in low light compared to the hmc-150. This can give you an idea of what both cameras look like.

definitely shoot close ups or low lights with the 7D
shoot hmc150 on bright scenes.

Dont shoot with the same angle of shot though.. e.g. dont use the hmc as a closeup when 7d is covering that..

I did a shoot with the 150 and a 7d. I had the letus adaptor and a couple different prime lenses on the panny. The main difference between the two was the 7d did better in low light, especially with the letus and extra lens on the 150. I did have to do a number of complicated workarounds to get them both to work as a multiclip in FCP. So, in essence, it does work. And the look matched fairly well with the 35mm adaptor. The HMC footage was darker than the 7d--but probably could have been avoided if we were more careful about matching the two up during shooting.
