Quality Glass on the A7s

I'm excited about the upcoming FE 28-135 f/4 on the A7S. It's huge, but the range is so very convenient and I miss OSS and proper aperture rings. And internal zoom/focus like the 70-200 f/4.

Here are some sample RAW files here in case anyone missed it. IQ looks stellar. The lack of distortion at wide angle (last photo) is promising and impressive over the previous Sony zooms.

My old Voigtländer 55mm 1.4 color ultron was my favorite lens on my 5D and now is on the A7s. Dont use it at 1.4 but 2.0 is really nice. Nice colors, just much better look in general compared to modern AF lenses.

Thanks for sharing it, had been wondering about the quality of the lens for a while now!

I tested my lens set on the a7s. Results for stills here (4240 pixels wide), and here for those same images downsampled to 1920x1080.
The summicron-C 40mm f/2.0 is really nice in the center, but needs to be stopped down all the way to f/5.6 to be sharp in the corners (among other things because, as I noticed on the field, it has a heck of a lot of field curvature).
Not bad for the price and the size, but not as good as I expected.

Quick update in case anybody is also looking for a small walk-around lens for the FE mount. I bought an Industar-61 (52mm f/2.8) for $35, tested it against the Summicron-C (40mm f/2.0), and sold the summicron for $460. The tests are here. The Summicron-C is actually sharper in the center and about equal in mid-frame (corners of APS-C), but a lot softer in the corners. And, above all, it has A LOT of field curvature, which was bugging me big time. The Industar is slightly bigger (slightly under 2cm longer) but for less than a tenth of the price it's a pretty decent performer.
