Hi there,

I have a question regarding a music video I'm shooting soon:

Shooting the video at 24P, what system/speed rate of playback should I use when playing the playback on set- so I can sync the actors' singing with the song after in post?

How would that be different from a video shot at 'normal' NTSC frame rate (29.97)?

Your advice is much appreciated!
Liron.

The frames-per-second are definitely different, but the actual length of the measured second is the same, of course. The actual scene isn't recorded at a different speed between the two settings (only the rate the frames are captured), so the audio won't be affected.

If you are asking about playing the music faster on set to slow down the footage in post, then that's a different story.

Add to that the fact that 24p on a DVX is laid to tape as 29.97.

Yes yes, so true, when i first got my dvx it took me awhile to come to this realization. Plus, whether 24fps or 30 they are both being played "ps" per second. So the only difference per second is the amount of frames going by.
