Q: 7D shutter count

How do you get info from the 7D about how many shutter actuations have happened?

edit:
I've heard about EOSinfo but I've also read that it doesn't work with the 7D

On my Mac I have a program called EXIF Viewer, and it looks at the EXIF info of any picture. So if I snapped a picture with my camera, and loaded it on my computer, it will show all the info from the camera (shutter speed, ISO, aperture, if the flash went off, and much more, including the number of actuations)

Thank you for responding. I also use a mac so I downloaded EXIF for mac from this LINK
Using my new EXIF reader I looked at a jpeg taken last sunday. Here is a copy of EXIF data and for some reason the actuations info at the bottom reads zero
(BTW there is no lens data because I use nikon AIS manual focus lenses)

Strange, I ran it on a picture I took with my 20D, and it gave me a number in the 26,000 range for the "Actuation Counter", which makes sense for me since I used it fairly casually for the few years I've had it. I wouldn't think that your lens would effect any of the EXIF information, but I may be wrong.

Maybe the 7D records EXIF data a little differently and the software needs to be upgraded to recognize it. It may be worth e-mailing the creator of the application about.

I left my counter to run continuously and never reset, thats why I'm at IMG_3XXX

But there has to be some way!

Hi Zac, that seems to be the only way so far but will it account for actuations where you go into live view (mirror goes up is one actuation) and don't press record?

Here's something funny. On the menu, 3rd yellow spanner go to Battery Info and it lists Shutter count but its only the shutter count since you last recharged the batttery.

LOL ... my 7D has had 8 shutter actuations and I got it last september!
