Totally agree. Hell, I ran around/hiked an island with the FS700+7Q combo. Not the most elegant. I love the idea of ProRes internally. Man, they are reeling me in with those specs. If it's 10-bit internal, I have to assume 10-bit SDI out. Just bummed about possibly losing 240fps. 180fps is still pretty nice... but I can almost guarantee that it's an arbitrary limitation to avoid cannibalizing the FS700. Hopefully the "Utility SD Card" will let us tweak a .all file and enable some different modes....Yeah same Josh.
But at the same times the Odyssey 7Q is a b to drag around doing documentaries.

Where do you see the FS700 is 12bit linear? My understanding is they are all 16bit linear but that is compressed with an slog gamma curve for transport over the 12bit SDI connection. 12bit linear would be way more limiting than what we are seeing from the FS700+7Q.
Video has been removed! As a C100 owner I hope that Canon either has something up their sleave too or let their marketing team start practicing deep bows while constantly repeating "I`m sorry I failed! I`m sorry I failed! I`m sorry I failed! I`m sorry I failed!"
Seriously, the fs7 so far looks like the first Sony camera I would actually consider buying for my doc-style work. Nice one Sony!
And here we go:

They are also releasing a plate/rod/shoulder thing. This is from Juan Martinez' presentation at IBC. The user's arms look way too close to the body for this to be very comfortable. A long lens and mattebox will make it very tiring. Adding some bricks to the back will help, but, I'm not convinced this form factor is right. IMHO, he brick shape of the F5 is much more comfortable for long term shoulder held shots. At least, they got the viewfinder right..
Sell it, that's what I'll do if I decide to get it.as a fs700 owner...

At this price? Might work for RED but on an $8K camera... nah. My FS700 has definitely pulled its weight and been worth the investment. Being able to sell it and get a little out of it to reinvest is a bonus, to me.Would be cool if there was a trade-in program for us FS700 owners...
