Just installed the latest firmware for the PX270 and the OIS is acting very well now. I would say it is right up there or better than the XF300 I used to own. A little birdie told me the OIS is still being perfected so further improvements can be expected.

Proxy recording is now available in 720p and using the MicroP2 cards. Way to go Panasonic! Finally...

New features
  1. AVC-Intra100 Codec 720 24PN, 30PN and 25PN modes are added to Recording format and SIMUL REC format.
  2. Support for Proxy recording when 720P mode is selected.
  3. Menu is added for recording the Card Serial No. in Metadata of clips.
  4. Indication of total clip duration is added to MENU.
  5. Menu is added for changing SSH Port settings to enhance WiFi security.

    Factory default setting of SCENE FILE is changed from F1 to F3.
Improvement
  • When a 50Hz format was selected as the SYSTEM MODE, the internal (built-in) time code generator would not be locked to the external time code generator. This problem was improved.

As a owner of a Panasonic PX270 I can say that it is "complete" and is one of the best small handheld camcorder out there. Are there additions to come that will make it even better, yes but in no way would I say "the camera remains incomplete" I am happy to have bought a great camera that will only get better.
 
I don't quite understand why the AVC-Ultra codec does not have 24p and 30p. Maybe it needs 50/60 frames for the compression efficiency? This codec is great. If I needed 24p a lot I would be pissed.
 
I shoot with the PX270 in 24pn using AVC intra100 with no problem as I understand "AVC-Ultra codec" is panasonic's name for a whole range of codec
 
From what I can see AVC-LongG25 may be limited as to frame rate to 1920x1080 @ 59.94i,59.94p,50p,50i. I do not know if any camera can record AVC-LongG25 at any other frame rate. Since I like to record at full broadcast specs AVC Intra100 offers all the frame rates I need 60i,60p,30p and 24p.
