Hi there, I have just bought a used HVX200 and have been trying to get it to work with the FS-100 but have been puzzled but its lack of menu features compared to what it is apparently supposed to have... I'll explain with pictures...

First odd thing... No matter what recording format I choose, the options you see in blue are always in blue and are not changable... im assuming thats not right! (unless I change to SD and then the 576i record mode is switchable between DV, DVC PRO and DVC PRO 50

Secondly, in trying to research how to get the fs-100 to work I have found that you have to change the TC mode to NDF. Now not only is 'TC Mode' not an option, there is nowhere on any of the menus called NDF. Here is what my 2nd page of my recording menu shows:

And finally, I thought this thing was supposed to have loads of cool frame rates... how do I access these? If it is through the 'Record Format P2' then it ain't happening, what you see in the picture below are all of the recording options I have available to me:

Unbeknownst to me when I bought it, this thing is the HVX200MC which I believe is a Chinese PAL version. I gather that this is still a valid version of the HVX200, but does it have fewer features than the rest of the worlds? Or do I have some sort of grey import?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Chris

EDIT: I have worked out that 'Rec function' is only available in video cam mode.
EDIT 2: I have cracked the frame rate too... I can set it from 12-50 if I set UB mode to frame rate. Still cant set TC mode... its just not on the menu

You answered your own question. :) In HD mode, which 1080 and 720 are, the only option is DVCPRO HD. There's no other choice, so it's not switchable.

24p mode is forced to NDF so that option is disabled.

The variable frame rates are under the Scene File, not Recording Mode.

I strongly recommend you get the user manual. it is available on line from Panasonic.

btw, I don't think can reset the TC, but you can select different display modes that show different times.
