Putting Quicktime onto P2 cards?

Hi,

Is there anyway to put an edited movie onto a P2 card to be viewed on the camera? The reason I want to do this is so I can take something I've edited and see just for fun what it looks like on a friend's HD television hooked up through component video I know, I really should get a HD monitor, but for now I'm hoping I can do this. Thanks
 
No, can't be done. The camera only understands MXF containers, and only the codecs the camera can record in.

Some NLEs like Canopus Edius can export back to P2 media and even break a sequence up across multiple P2 cards if it doesn't fit onto one.

How do you turn external video on for the camera while it is in P2 mode? I coudn't get it to work. I turned the thumbnail screen off but had no luck. Do you need to do something different in Final Cut? Thanks.
 
Here is what I do. Sorry if I use the incorrect term for some buttons, as I do not have the HVX sitting in front of me.

- Make sure the HVX recording mode is set to 720/60p.
- Put camera in VTR mode (i believe that is what it is called)..make sure you have a P2 card
- Hit the audio dub mode button (something like this) on the top of your camera.
- Connect via firewire to your computer and open up FCP.
- Open up the sequence you want to put on the P2 card.
- In FCP, go to view, External Video, and select All Frames.
- Set your in and out points, and then go to File, Print to Video.
- I would select the option to have it start recording automatically. You will be able to see in the HVX Lcd or viewfinder whether it is working or not.
- when it is done, press the stop button on the top of your HVX.
