Pulldown removal of 24F footage

Can someone just enlighten me if i shoot 24F do i have to remove pulldown by rendering to a new file as when i shoot with HV20? Or can i just tell the software to remove the pulldown automatically (Vegas or FCP).

24F doesn't have pulldown at all. But the HV20 doesn't have 24F, it has 24p recorded within 60i.

24F from the XHA1/XLH1 is recorded as a native 24p data stream, no pulldown at all.

Patryk, have you opened the operating manual of your Canon? It even has images of how fields are laid out on tape in different recording modes, HDV and DV.

24F HDV is recorded as native progressive 23.98 on tape and is sent as native progressive via FireWire. 24F DV is recorded with 2-3 pulldown into 60i stream.

Not only does the XH-A1 24F work like a breeze on a 23.97 timeline, but your HV20 can play back 24F natively so you can use it as a deck and save the heads on your A1.

The HV20 only records 24PF though requiring pulldown removal. But if you need an inexpensive B cam, the HV40 both records and plays back 24F natively.

With presets the A1 can be set to match the looks of the HVx0 series footage. The default on the A1 is flat colors for color correction, while the HVx0 is saturated in default mode. (But the HVx0's are flat in Cinemode.)
