Correction, it doesnt half the resolution, it completely destroys it, but if any of you actually had premiere you would have known that.
I've imported interlaced 1080p GH1 files into Premiere Pro and After Effects CS4 23.976fps timelines and tried out all of the various pulldown options that are offered. While some settings are better than others, none of them correctly extract all of the original progressive frames from the telecined MTS files. This is a serious flaw and Adobe should be ashamed of its failure to get this right.
Dont need to, cineform is a lossy format, whether or not its perceptible is subjective, but with all lossy formats you get what you pay for, which is why i pay for a decent raid for my lossless files.
CS5 is completely different from CS4. CS4 was useless for pulldown.I've imported interlaced 1080p GH1 files into Premiere Pro and After Effects CS4 23.976fps timelines and tried out all of the various pulldown options that are offered. While some settings are better than others, none of them correctly extract all of the original progressive frames from the telecined MTS files. I don't believe this "Premiere throws away 50% of the resolution" stuff. Unless someone can show that it does.
