"Providence" is a feature length silent film, the second for my production company, MainStreet Productions. We got a lot of puzzled looks (if you can get that over the net) when we announced our last silent feature, "The Good Book". However, the film has gone on to be selected in 21 of the 30 festivals we've entered it in and has won 7 awards. So we've decided to embrace the silent genre. What we would spend on production sound now goes towards a professional film composer for the soundtrack, which will span many genres including jazz, classical and country. The storyline is about a couple who meet each other as children, but it takes nearly 40 years for them to finally get together. There are many period scenes in the 70's and 80's, so we spent a lot of time on production design for the sets and lined up 70's cars for exteriors.
We are at this point exactly half way through production, so I decided to post a few screenshots of what we have so far. I'm shooting in Cine Ei/ SLOG3, using a 709A monitor LUT. Lenses include Sigma 19mm and 30mm F 2.8, Nikkor 35mm and 50mm F 1.8, Rokinon 85mm T 1.7, Helios 44mm for lens flares and bokeh, and a Tamron 70-200mm. 90% of the film is probably shot on the Sigmas, Nikkors and Rokinon.
