Other: Pros and Cons ONLY on the BMC?

The only definite issues (for me) that I can extract from the current specs are: no overcranking, no phantom mic power, no built-in ND. The ergonomics are a little sketchy for run-and-gun handheld work, which I don't need that often but when I need it I really need it. Onboard power might become an issue if you are also running a separate evf. The sensor size is a considerable source of humor for me, after listening to people diss the 43 format for years now, it does move the very useful 50mm focal length (for m43) towards the 35mm and good fast 35s are way expensive.

There are definitely a lot of camera options at the moment. The success of this camera is going to be all about image quality/characteristics and a price point that softens the risk a bit. I like the idea of not using CF cards or some kind of proprietary media, SSDs are small and sturdy enough that the BMD approach might be copied, having fast 500gb onboard is a big advantage.

I am a bit late to the game here, and I am trying to catch up on the news about the camera! I have spent the last year getting really deep into Resolve for my own productions, and this is exactly what I want. I am about to put my AF100 for sale and pre-order this.

Has anyone heard anything about how sharp the sensor is? I realize that a film-like camera should be somewhat soft...

The cons are people listing cons before the camera even hits the shelves. For three large you're getting more than you could have ever hoped for.

Pro: No more macroblocking, or at least in the original files. What happens to it afterwards is on you!... Seriously this has me super excited, almost as much as the 13 stops DR and 12bit.

That logic works both ways; there really are no pros or cons before somebody tests a production run version.

So this is a discussion on purported specifications and footage made with a preproduction camera. I have no reason to doubt BMD, but I also shouldn't have to point out to anyone that this is their first camera.
