ALL: Proper lens cleaning

New to pro videos and not sure what to do about lens cleaning for my ac130a.
I already have a smudge on my viewfinder lens.

It says to use air only to clean it off (like a can of air).
Some sites talk of certain kinds of cloth.
I saw one vid where the guy uses some kind of solution and a special cloth to clean oil off the lens.

I live near the beach and want to film some there...but I assume the lens will get salty residue, bits of sand, etc and would like to clean it off without scratching..

what would you do?

Don't worry too much about the smudge on the viewfinder, it's not as critical as cleaning the main lens.

I use a number of tools to keep my lens clean.

First, a blower brush or canned air to get rid of any grit.

If that doesn't work, gently try a micro fibre lens cleaning cloth.

And if that doesn't work, I use Rosco lens leaner and Rosco lens cleaning tissues.

For your viewfinder the micro fibre cloth should be enough.

If you are shooting around salt water I strongly recommend keeping a UV filter on your camera and investing in a raincover of some sort. Salt and electronics don't mix!

thanks, this helps alot...was afraid of the filter, heard it lowered the view, but probably better than getting a new lens..lol
