Prologue to my WW2 movie "The Bridge"

Well maybe but thats not what I got out of watching. I got he wanted to catch the next plane home after he packed his bags and in WWII that didn't happen. Plus not many birds fly across the ocean. Just a plot detail to think about.

Maybe bags is a metaphor for all the baggage that comes with a soldier after being through the hell of war!

So Sick! Amazing. How did you get that shot with all the battle ships?? It lookd so real!!!!

Really? It's not even done... haha, wait 'til you see the final shot... it'll have more smoke and ambiance.

I basically modeled 3 battleships, duplicated them all over the place. Shot some footage, tracked it in 3d. Matched the lighting in 3dsmax and composited it in. Then did some grading.

The main thing I noticed about the compositing was that their scale/perspective seemed off. They looked too small, especially the closer up ones. I don't know exactly how to describe what I mean so I thought I'd just link to actual photos (of the Allied Normandy invasion fleet).

According to my calculations, scale and perspective should be correct.

Thanks for the pics but none of them are from a similar angle so I can't really use any of them for reference.

Yeah, good job. Like others have said, this is one of the first (or the first?) that I've felt really had a truly cinematic feel. Still not perfect, but as you've said, a WIP. Knowing that the VFX shots are unfinished is awesome. To add smoke, other details, etc...I imagine they will look even better.

Good News: Here is an actual scene from my WW2 film "The Bridge".

Bad News: This will be the last preview I give of it, sorry guys. Next time you'll see it, it will be finished and hopefully touring your local film festivals!

Absolutely incredible. Great work and good acting all around. I look forward to seeing this at festivals!

Best of luck,

Kegan

Awesome work Torres, looks cinema ready. The weird thing is that the other day I was thinking of the scene that you now use as your company logo and tried to figure out where I had seen it and what camera it was shot on since it was a couple of years ago that I saw it, great progress you have done. :)

dude...that was really well done...good luck with the rest of the process and I can't wait to see the final product!

Yo, awesome! Very filmic and I like the grading a lot!
I guess the second shot (the wide where they are sitting on the trees) is 5D?
Am I right? I think the 7D could never do such detailed wides, because of the
lacking definition - what do you think (I own a 7D but always try not to go too wide, because the detail is not there in my opinion).

I`m looking forward to see the final product! Really amazing!

This scene was shot all 7D!

hey man I love your stuff... if I had one thing to say it would be work on your bullet sounds... if that guy was sniped all you would hear would be the bullet wizzing by... then the sound of the report would follow... think about how fast sound travels the equate it to distance. Remember Mach 1 ( the speed of sound) is 340.29 m/s... if the sniper is at a distance of 800 meters the it will take the report( muzzle sound) 2.4 seconds to reach the soldiers... but the bullet from a popular german rifle at the time such as the Kar 98K travels at 760 m/s so it will take the round only a little more than one second to reach them. also you must factor in echo of the report. Seeing as how this is a war movie this sound must be correct. so keep this in mind. find the muzzle velocity of each gun and remember the speed of sound, the factor in distance that each soldier is at. Use this and the sound will be fantastic and scare the S*&T out of people.

Know any good sound designers? haha
