anyone having gitter problems with footage shot in 4.0?
I upgraded my FS100 to 4.0 and the first shoot that I shot in has a bunch of jitter and jump, forward and back. I have never seen this before and was wondering if it was because I upgraded firmwire or some other reason I dont know about. Thanks.

Yes, I had that issue last month right after shooting... everything was chopped up and duplicated. I haven't found a fix yet, and I'm pretty ticked off.

I posted the issues in here but didn't get any replies at that time, so I'm modestly glad that at least it's not just my unit and more of a widespread problem. Perhaps Focus will notice since it's an open issue.

I shot footage yesterday that have the same problem.
It was shot in P2-mode on the FS-100. I have version 4.
All my footage is this way, chopped up in working pieces that repeats and skips randomly.

Why shoot in P2 mode when you have the firestore anyway? I have been shooting QN mode on it and its been totally flawless. Try a clean format and shoot QuicktimeNative on the firestore and only 720p...if its still jittery you might have a defective unit.

Welcome to the Club!

I had the same problemes today (FS-100 V4)

Duplicated Clips, 2 x the same take in one clip, jumping, block artefacts for 1 or 2 frames.

The problems came up only in variable frame mode.
The clip duplicating comes in every mode.

Any ideas yet?

So that's

V4
P2

Wow.

Does anyone have reason to suspect their Firewire port? My only thought for mine is that the rental camera's fire port was no good for some reason. I asked the guy I rented it from and sure enough he's never used it. Don't know how it could be bad if he's never plugged anything into that, but it's also not a 'known good' quantity in the equation, since we don't know if it's ever worked. What about you guys?

My Firewire port works great whe I capture via OnLocation.
So I think that´s not the problem.

Do you guys "organize P2" before you send the clips to the computer?

I agree with David S. Typically people who experience problems with the Firestore are the only one's who post comments. I for one am a strong proponent of the Firestore. I upgraded to version four when it first came out and have no problems what-so-ever. The versatility this piece of gear provides is certainly worth the price of admission.

One well respected poster here and elsewhere has made multiple trips to Israel with a HVX200 and a FS-100 without any issues. Another has used it extensively in the heat and humidity of New Orleans.

I user FS-100, 160GB, version 4 firmware, in very rough environments, never had a problem. Works great. But then, I also produce Firestore user DVDs and the Firestore discussion board. So I may be biased.
