I am editing an indie feature and recently one of my hard drives died. It was a 2tb drive that contained the original mxf files and the quicktime duplicates. I only had the mxf files backed up on a smaller drive.
I replaced the drive that crashed, then pushed over the original mxf files to the new drive and reimported the files into fcp 5.1.4
As far as I can tell, the quicktime movies when imported always take the name of the original mxf file. So I figured relinking the footage would be easy. But when I tried only 200 of the film's 1600 clips actually relinked. The remaining 1400 clips still read media offline and when i search for the corresponding qt file there aren't matching numbers for them. (but seemingly there were for 200 of the clips and they were precise relinks).
what the heck happened and how do I fix this with scraping my whole edit?
