Problem with T2i...please help

So I was shooting a friends band last night with my T2i and a Pentax 50mm 1.7 lens and when I got back home to review the footage there was one frame where the bottom half of the frame flashed brighter then the top half of the frame and then went back to normal the next frame. Does anyone know what could have caused this and what I should do? It's on the footage in the camera as well so it's not a transfer issue. Any help would be appreciated because I don't want this to happen again on a shoot. Thanks!

Looks like a camera flash. May have something to do with the rolling shutter. I'll let the more experienced members elaborate.

At first I thought the same thing but when I looked at the frame by itself I realized it was a perfect straight line down the center of the frame...and I don't remember anyone else with a camera around me.

Looks like a camera flash to me as well. I wouldn't worry too much if it's just a frame but definitely get it checked out if it keeps happening randomly.

This happens all the time on the GH1 when a flash goes off. Can't remember why, but there is not much you can do about it as I recall....

it does NOT appear to be a straight line at all; please post a full res picture. by the left side, between the belly and the shirt of the subject looks like a frame read line, and again by the cuff looks like another read line. Were there flashing lights, flickering lights, strobes, flashes, etc there? because that really DOES look exactly like flash+CMOS issue.

So a flash could affect half of the frame like that but not affect the other half at all? Is that just typical of CMOS, that when a flash goes off it would only appear in the lower half of the frame but not the top?

CMOS chips don't record the whole frame at once, so if something affects the image that is quicker than the duration of the frame, like a camera flash / strobe, it will only affect a certain part of the frame.

This clip has an example of extraordinarily bad flash banding on a red carpet:

This can look like the bad frame you are talking about, though I can't say for sure that they are the same thing.

I've had this before but knew what it was because I remember a camera flashing. That's exactly what it is. That's how it appears when you record with the 7d , T2i.

wow thats messed up. i had no idea this occured with flashes. So a ccd camera would be the best thing for news gathering where many flashes are going off. interesting
