Hi everyone,
I've come across something I find strange. I have imported a p2 card worth of footage and assembled a timeline of the parts of it I want to keep. I exported as a Quicktime Movie using "current settings"- I'm assuming that would mean I would have no loss of quality or data. So anyway, then I re-opened that file in FCP and it was playing back jumpy. I discovered the problem was that the file needed to be rendered. But why is this? I can open that file in from Quicktime and it plays fine, but in FCP it needs to be rendered. Why would I need to render it if it is just exported (without any change in settings or compression). I'm working in a 720p24 timeline.
thanks for any help!
