Just some technical (but non pixel peeping) stuff to work on going forward.
That much VO gets pretty old. It's kind of an "easy out" for not being able to tell the story without it.
The audio is just this side of terrible. The VO has a very "recorded inside a tin can" sound. Technically that's where you should really focus, better audio.
Overall it looks a tad "flat", guessing not much lighting used. As I'm sure you are aware African American skin is a black hole for light. We lost the detail in the lead actor's face quite a few times. The rest of the scene was often bright enough, but he needed some key light on his face desperately.
Some well framed shots and fairly interesting story. Keep at it!
