PRICING/AVAILABILITY FOR AG-HPX250 Announced-- August $5995.00 USD

Well, the camera is supposed to be available for sale to actual end customers no later than three weeks from now, so surely there'll be lots of stuff hitting the web at the end of this month and early next month.
As ever Barry thanks.... could I just sneak in another quick question... my local Panny dealer says that the HPX251 has been discontinued and now its the HPX250. would you know if theres likely to be a difference between UK/Euro version and the US version. I note that theres a juicy price difference so MIGHT be worth getting in the US.

I don't know what the international marketing numbering system is likely to be. The HPX250 is a switchable 50/60Hz camera so there shouldn't be any physical difference between them. There will, of course, be warranty differences.

And one truly final question... I'm lead to believe from my dealer in the UK that theres a Tsumami of demand for this camera. As such do you think/expect that the US street price will match the official Panny pricing for the foreseeable future or will dealers try to get those extra sales by shaving the official price?
Thanks once again.

Less than 2 weeks until its release and there's still no buzz on this camera! No user reports, first impressions, or even a sighting. Where's Barry, Phillip Bloom, etc. Jan, please give them some cameras to test.

I guess there's just no love for 1/3" cameras these days.

I contact a reseller, and was told that they were told by Panasonic that the cam wouldn't be released until next month, which is September.

The press release for an August release is still at the company's web site.

No street prices are out there, and BHPhoto still has it at $6495.00

I find this kinda scary! Why Panny????

Have you ever seen footage from the HPX-370? Well there ya go...
I have, but what about the lens.... makes a BIG difference!

Also I'm sorry BUT it is strange that Panny have been so amazingly quiet about this camera coz from what dealers here are saying theres a Tsunami of demand for it. Makes me wonder if theres a problem???.... you only have to look at the launch of the HVX to be left scratching your head and wondering whats different.

Panny.... some footage PLEASE!

What is it that you wish Panasonic to say right now?

And footage from an unreleased camera?

Delivered to YT or Vimeo?

O.K...... O.K! I'm just frustrated. There has been NIL info since some spec's and a couple of videos were released at NAB in April. Every dealer I've spoken to has just shrugged their shoulders and said they know as much as everyone else.... i.e. nothing. Some reckon Panny are releasing in early September some say definitely not until mid-October. Is Panasonic turning into Apple or something?? Would have been nice for Panny to have put a bit of buzz out there and kept people in the loop like they did with the release of the HVX200. Still don't know if it'll flip video in-camera for use with my SG-Pro :( sigh!

Anyway I'll go back to sleep now :|
