Just got this:

"SECAUCUS, NJ (August 3, 2011) – Panasonic Solutions Company today announced that the new AG-HPX250, its first P2 HD handheld camcorder with 10-bit, 4:2:2 independent-frame, full 1920 x 1080 resolution AVC-Intra recording, will be available later this month at the suggested list price of $5,995.00."

A Panasonic press release.

I haven't seen an HPX250 yet. Don't know when I might. Obviously I expect that they'll be sending out review samples soon as it's shipping pretty soon, but I haven't heard any dates yet.

I don't think specs have been fully released. What I've been told is that it's basically the HPX370 in a handheld form factor.

Here's the full press release:

Any word on the lenses in these new cameras? Leica seemed to be absent from any branding and the red band on the lens is odd for a Panny camera.

Heh. My spidey-senses are telling me that another round of 35mm adapters is on its way. :) 10bit at this price is pretty tough to ignore. Is there a cheaper 10bit competitor? (Honest question here guys)

There's only one 10-bit codec on the market. AVC-Intra. And the HPX250 will be the cheapest camera offering it.

No sarcasm here Barry. (Thanks BTW)
Does this mean that the 35mm adapters have new life? I KNOW many peeps will not EVEN START to consider that option....BUT...for 10bit color at this price? WOWSER....crazy stuff indeed.

I ALREADY KNOW: This cam with an interchangeable interface is the F3 competitor. But this is an interesting development for sure!

Now the choice of cameras becomes a question of do you want something bolted onto the front or onto the back?

I ALREADY KNOW: This cam with an interchangeable interface is the F3 competitor. But this is an interesting development for sure!

Not really. The F3 has a much bigger sensor. This is more of a direct EX1R competitor, with the 370 being more in line to compete with the EX3.

Anybody have any idea when footage is likely to be released/available? better still a quality review?
Cheers

Well, the camera is supposed to be available for sale to actual end customers no later than three weeks from now, so surely there'll be lots of stuff hitting the web at the end of this month and early next month.
