Hey, how much do you think the HVX average used price will go down after the HPX170 is out for a while (a few months)?
Thanks.

I don't see it going down -- the HVX of course has a big feature that some people need, namely a tape deck.

I'll be going for an HPX, though, for the weight and wider lens.

two different cameras for two different (however slight) users. hpx should have little to no effect on hvx pricing.

dude check out the used prices...dropped like a brick since the word got out about the hpx and hmc....got mine for 3 gs with a ton of extras and only 50hrs of operation with 0 on the tape heads! lol but in a couple months i dont think they will drop any more, maybe a few hundred...just like everyone else said it supports its own breed of users.

more like the used prices on hvx200's dropped because the 200a came out. Niether the 200 or 200a prices will be affected by the 170. Two different cameras.

yeah, thats the reality. when i heard the 200a was coming out. i quickly unloaded my 200 for about $4500. a couple weeks later they were selling for about $3800. now it seems they have leveled off at about $3500-$3000

Why would the p2 card intro affect the HPX170 price?

Well, i'm sure I'll be told that I'm wrong about this as I do not work for Panasonic, but the more I read about the 170, the more it seems like it is a bit overpriced, IMHO... Maybe $4k without a P2 card.

When I look at the $5200 price tag I think, well its got the warranty & the 16 GB P2 card, so that must be why.

But when the 64 GB cards come out & the smaller card prices go down & if the 170 still comes with a 16 GB, it should affect the price of the camera &/or what comes with it... It's not exactly a profound observation.

I guess what I am trying to say that the 200a's may actually hold their value better than the 170's...

WOW, I want the HPX170, but it will be hard to let me HVX200 go for $3,500.

I'll sell it, but for $3,500 or less, kinda makes you want to just buy the second camera and keep the old one, especially when they buyer will most likely want a P2 card as well.
