Interesting that they say estimated arrival will be "September" when Panny claims October... I'm betting on a Nov. 31st ship date!
Also, Panasonic has the HMC-150 on their web pages...

Can anyone check out the accessory page for the HMC150 and see if the battery is the same one used with the DVX?
Don't know. It could be PCM uncompressed at anywhere from 2 to 7 channels (actually 7.1, I think) but since each pair takes up 1.5 megabits, that'd be six megabits for audio alone; I doubt they're doing that. Or it could be AC-3 compressed audio. I don't think anyone's said yet.Also... do we have any idea of the audio format recorded, and how it may vary with the video "mode"/"bitrate"? The AVCHD spec supports both compressed and uncompressed audio... but does the HMC150?
The camera films (in PAL) 720p 50, so if you take that 50 frames progressive stream into a 25 or 24 frames progressive timeline the logic says you would achieve slowmo.
So even if it isn't framerate swatchable could you get slowmo?
Does it matter which type of HD I edit. Basically I want the HPX but he HMC is cheaper. I remember reading that One type of HD is a pain to work with, I just can't find the thread.
Yes it does matter and this it the type that is a pain. Some NLEs will allow you to edit video encoded with the AVCHD codec natively (without transcoding), but you're going to need lots of horse power to do it. Personnaly, I've been investigating how to transcode the AVCHD to something cleaner to edit.
Will there be disadvantages to buying the first production issues of the HMC150? Can we expect significant refinement in the first several months? This will be my first camera and I do not know the early history of other models Panasonic has come out with . You guys do. Thanks.

The expanded use of a camera or product is where one sometimes finds the "secret door" to special features or expanded use like we did on the DVX100B. We found that we can shoot it way lower in light without expanding the gain by cheating the camera from the way in which it was intended to be used. Herein, some experimentation found that we could go down to as low as what would be required for about -24 or even -30 gain
