Yea we are all finished, but that was the easy part. Making it flow and putting all the little sound nuances in place is the next task at hand.

Good short.

It was well lit and the story was solid, but the sound was very lacking.

Really had a lot of potential but the sound takes away from the professionalism tremendously.
 
"Jasper" does a pretty good job with the acting. I enjoyed watching him.

There's some interesting shots and good cinematography there, but as Drew pointed out, the sound throws the viewer off completely.

Good story and great job overall!!
 
I really loved this one, maybe thats because I have daddy issues...thats another movie in its entirety. But i don't know if it was my d-load, but there were black frames through out the flick. Then a big let down...

HE WAS GAY...WTF! I loved, but then he was gay, I didn't care for that ending, maybe cut it when the couple is walking down the sidewalk. Audio didn't bother me that much. Loved the Cinematography! Acting spot on, (besides the nurse and wife they were ok) Great flick sir!

Note to self. Be more careful with audio.

Dustin - Glad you like the ending. Its not about being gay but choosing a lifestyle or life choice, so to speak, that seperates you from loved ones.

Good film! I agree with all the comments above, but the audio thing was killing it for me. I thought Jasper was great.

You did a really good job on this one....although I kept looking for the fishing scene!
 
You got a nice and touching story however the fact that he is gay is kind of overdone. You could have used some better excuses for Jasper ;-). The acting is great. The lighting is not consistent across the movie. The sound is off sometimes also. But overall your movie is one of the well made in this fest. Great job!
 
Hey, nice to see you working with older actors. That's something i sometimes feel is missing (with some fantastic exceptions) from the dvxfests. You really had some technical issues with sound. Also, some of the editing erked me. When the book sfell from his desk, i would have rather not seen them instead of the quick fade cut.

But, good job on the pic. I liked that it was a relationship flick. Dealing with some very real passages of time issues instead of something chaotic and edgy (how i do love all manners of film =) ). keep it up
 
Kinda hard to find your thread. Took me a few loops through.

I enjoyed this a lot. As mentioned, good to see older actors. It gives film a much needed layer.

I think you could have gone a few scenes with-out dialogue to show the guilt/anguish both me felt. As it is, some of the stuff just repeats itself.

I think the ending is a nice payoff. Maybe drop a red herring to get the audience to believe something completely different.

This one sucked me sentimentally in - I have to admit I started to cry. The story has a very clever end - so it is my favorite one between the late subject films. Very nice work. Thank you for have done that.

This was a very touching story. I would say that the script, and especially the ending, were pretty much perfect. The acting, especially of Jasper and the doctor, were magnificent. Unfortunately the film was prevented from being perfect by the audio quality. I also thought that the cinematography in Jasper's house was very good but elsewhere it didn't reach the same level.

Nonetheless, this is definitely among the better entries in the fest.
 
Audio hurt this short for me. Sound quality was difficult to listen too. Everything else looked top notch but for the sound. That is definitely an area you can improve on next time, or just get someone else to help you with sound.
 
I really liked some of the shallow DOF shots in this. Nice looking entry.
I won't mention anything that's already been covered.

I really liked this on although. Nice story as well.

Hey,

Just caught the flick. I enjoyed it and thought it was a big movie to tell in such a short time.

Unfortunately, it might have hurt that it was such a big idea because I felt like it rushed along. We never stayed with one bit long enough, for my taste. For these emotional rides I feel like we need a slower pace so we can see/feel the characters pain.

I'm sort of mixed about the look. I love it, but wasn't a fan of the iris effect with the darkening of the edges. But I thought the sharpness and the colors were really nice.

I think, storywise, it might have been a bit much or handled improperly. It just felt like the "gay" bit at the end was tacked on. I didn't feel the younger guy's pain for having not been with his father. I think even boosting just that would have made me more compelled as to why the father left 25 years earlier. For me, more anguish, more resentment really would have pushed this film far.

Which is not to say I don't think it's an excellent effort. I enjoyed it and appreciated your approach to TIMEfest. Nice to see someone working with older actors and doing a fine job with them. Can't wait to see more of your work.
