Preparing My Camera to shoot in 2:55:1 WideScreen Mode?

I want to try something different and shoot an entire project with the video Matte Widescreen applied and this ratio. Any tips or ways that I can mark my lcd screen as a guidance?

Thanks

Turn on grid 2 from the menu. 2:55:1 is a little over halfway between the topmost and bottommost grid line and the solid gray borderline. Get some white duct tape and cut a thin strip out(if its too wide it will block the red record dot at the top and your aperture, iso, etc info at the bottom) and place it in these spots. Go record something that fits perfectly in between the two lines you created (basically a full shot of something) and bring it in the editor and apply your matte. If the matte cuts off the full shot go back and adjust your tape until you can bring it in the editor and it doesn't cut your image off anymore. Keep in mind that the record screen and the playback screen shift positions so you'll have tape going over your playback image but if it's thin like suggested it won't be a really bad nuisance.

I think go with the tape method, but wouldn't it be more precise taking a screen grab of the some widescreen footage and then putting that back onto the memory card and bringing it up on the camera?
