Premiere Pro 2.0

yeah, i meant to put that in the message but forgot...

i ordered it tuesday as soon as it appeared on the adobe site.

probably tuesday mid afternoon - eastern time.

i ordered the $695 upgrade.

i already had dreamweaver and when they had the latest dreamweaver upgrade you had an option to upgrade to the entire macromedia "studio 8"

i too wished the upgrade didn't include photoshop cs2 and illustrator cs2 simply because i already have the adobe creative suite which includes both those programs.

Thanks for the info. I ordered the same package a couple of days later so I suspect that might put me a lot further down the list. That's ok though as I want to get caught up on my current backlog before throwing in a wild card.

Adobe really needs to re-think their packaging. There are too many people in your situation. The crazy thing is that they give the appearance of sticking it to their best customers. It seems to me that for upgrades, they could offer a core bunclle of titles are not in any other bundle with the titles like Photoshop and Illustrator as options.

I know its only been a week since Pro 2.0 has been released but does anyone have any feedback positive or negative about the product. I am somewhat hesitant to buy the upgrade becuase it seems like minor changes. The price will hopefully be affordable on a student discounted website because I am in college.

I have it and am running it. I can't get my project to export as a WMV file. I am doing the EXACT same thing I did in 1.5. I set up all of the transcode settings and hit "okay." Then it begins its first pass at rendering. The render window closes immediately and leaves me with a 0 mb wmv file. Good stuff. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.

Here is where you can go to find out all the info you need:

http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/main.html

If you want you can download a 6 min video highlighting all the features under "see it in action".
You can also be put on the email list to get a free 30 day trial when it is released.

just installed 2.0 on a second box and the exporting works fine. Don't know what's wrong with the first box. If I figure it out, i'll give you guys the heads up.

QUESTION:

I can't figure out why there are no metadata settings for WMV exports, metadata is only optional for MPEG-1 and -2. Does anyone know why? I'm not used to working with Bridge, but maybe it holds the solution. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hey Triple, Can you export from PPro 2 to mpeg 2 dvd? For some reason, I can't in the demo - only WMV, AVI, Quicktime, RM, Flash FLV. In 1.5, i used the media encoder - is it only in the full version?

Since the mpeg2 encoder comes from MainConcept, there may be a licensing/royalty issue with including it in a trial version.

Have you set metadata with WMV exports before in 1.5? As I recall the dialog box for WMV exports works a bit unintuitively for setting metadata. I don't have PPro2 yet to know if it's any different.

Yeah, i've set metadata with WMV exports in 1.5, and it works great. In 2.0 however, there is no metadata option for WMV files.

Do you guys know anything about Adobe Bridge? Doe's it let you tag files with metadata?

is it a bad idea to export to mpeg in realtime with my matrox rtx100 card, what is a good bit rate for 2 hours of video. thank you

Matrox x100 is fine for output - Use variable bitrate around 5mbps to 4.5mbps to fit 2hrs on a 4.5gb dvd. For a 9gb dual layer, use 7.5mbps.

Hi TripleAAA - actually that's exactly where all the metadata is handled within PP2.0...if u open PP2 - slect file - browse - it will launch the bridge - in the bottom left hand corner u will see a tab for the metadata - u will also see a tab for keywords which u can assign - i hope this helps.

i did 4.81 yesterday it loked good just a littlee unsharp on the faces but overall it looked good. so 5mb will fit 2 hours? what about the menus in dvd authoring, does that take alot of space? thank you

No menus dont take a lot of space - be sure to convert your audio to ac3 format. The key is to have all your stuff fit into a 4.5 gb disc. Just check your file size.

no, mpeg layer 2 is not as compatable with dvd players - if you use encore dvd, it has a option to compress to ac3 in it - with premiere pro, you have to buy a $150 plugin. Meaning, let matrox output the uncompressed then treat that separately.
