This is one of two key features that will allow Premiere Pro to fully enter the broadcast/Hollywood arena and garner some market share over Avid and FCP.

The other key feature - network functionality. The ability for multiple people on multiple computers to work on the same project at the same time. Once Adobe adds that, and given Premiere Pro's other key strengths over it's competition, I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing the Adobe logo in the end credits on the big screen, right alongside Panavision and Kodak.

I am either getting old or surfing to many sites with different styles. Was the above post sarcasm? If they used G Chat while working on a film would the Google logo be next to Panavision as well?

Hooza ... I remember writing a somewhat scathing forum post about this very issue on this forum...as well as the Adobe site and their feedback section. By golly...these guys listen up and actually addressed the issue.

respect.

Adobe Premiere is in a unique place right now, the feature set is more than adequate, the price is right and the user base is still small enough that they (Adobe) actually respond to requests. Try that with FCP or (cough) Avid. I'm a little luke-warm about the 5.5 cycle-swap but it has some upgrades I probably can't live without (captioning).

No. I see the Avid logo in end credits all the time. I'm just saying it'd be nice to see the Adobe logo in it's place for a change. This new dual-sound feature is a step in that direction. Better network compatibility and multi-user project access is the next big hurdle to making that a possibility.

Wish they would have bought Plural Eyes instead.

So does this new feature do essentially the SAME thing that Plural Eyes does? I was a tad confused as to what CS5.5 was offering. Also I see that AE has a new Warp Stabilizer that stabilizes footage with the push of a button. It looks like it cuts a lot of steps out of the old (but still effective) method of using Mocha V2 to stabilize.

No it does not. The timecode sync will only happen automatically if both the original footage and the audio tracks contained the same timecode, something that can only be done if the camera has a TC input to the mixer. Won't be useful for most users out there but will be of great interest to seasoned pros whose is used to that workflow. The main useful feature that CS5.5 will offer is a way to conveniently log footages that has been synced to an external audio track as a type of subclip in the project bin. That way you no longer have to have a ton of synced takes cluttering up the timeline.

Previously with dual-system sound, there was no way to both view and hear a scene in the Source Monitor, as there was no way to marry the sound with the video. Now you can.
