prediction: HDD that fits in the P2 slots

Here's my prediction. Panasonic will offer a 120 GB hard drive that takes up the two P2 slots. This is just a hunch and is not based on anything besides a wild guess.

Hey...NAB is in Vegas right? Let's see some odds on these predictions. I'd say it's a 3 to 1 bet there will be a Hard Drive Solution....outta' the box. Any takers?

What would the advantage of the P2 cards be over a hard drive that could store numerous times more for way less money? The moving parts, which could lead to problems down the roaD? Or?

Imperviousness to shock, dust, vibration, heat, cold, dropped frames, etc. Plus size and speed.

Hard disks have an incredible advantage in price per gigabyte, but other than that (which may change some day in the future) P2 cards have got it all over hard disks.

What Barry said. A Hard Drive is perfect, except for reliability. P2 is rock-solid. ZERO DROPOUTS. Perfect for narrative filmmaking. Not ideal for Weddings or Concerts, perhaps, but then just use a Hard Disk. CHOICES!!!!

I still hope P2 will be much more affordable when the camera starts shipping. 1K for 2 8Gb wouldn't be bad to pay by Q4 2005
