Precautions to take when flying my Camera

Next week i need to fly out of state and i need to bring my dvx but i wasnt sure what precautions i need to go through when flying it. Will the x ray machines affect the camera or tapes? I would take the equiptment as a carry on, but my box for my cameras and what not is a bit to big. Any expieriences, suggestions, tips..etc are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Make sure you have a charged battery so that you can power up the camera at inspection if necesarry.

I'm doing the same in about a week. I've got a little case for the camera and a few extras, that I plan on carrying on. I haven't heard any horror stories about the camera or tapes passing through xray security, so I'm hoping that it will be safe.

If anyone has any important info I should know, post away. Thanks!

I flew to Copenhagen and back with my DVX, shotgun mic and wireless lavs in a Pelican carry-on, and 35 tapes and an external dirve in a backpack. No problems except re-packing all that sh*t each time I went through security.
