C300: Pre-Owned Low Hour C300 for $5500 or C100 MKII..........HELP???

I have an opportunity to purchase a low hour (150 hours) Pre-Owned C300 for $5500. Should I purchase the C300 or go for the C100 MKII? C300 comes in original packaging, with all original accessories (everything in near mint condition). Yes, I can make this decision, but curious as to what others would do and why.

I can only imagine as we get closer to and past NAB, many opportunities will occur similar to this for the C300 and 1DC.

$5500 for C300 is cool. You can recover the money in one good assignment. C100 Mark II has the one advantage of 50/60p at 1080 which C300 doesn't have. However, $5500 is too low a price for C300 and hence better to grab it.
 
I saw one sell for 6500 last week. Soon is now.

If you don't need 4K and don't want the bulk of an F3, absolutely get it.
 
why don't you using the "with nab will release new camera soon, your camera value will go down more" method with that C300 seller and drive down the price more. Easy decision eh? You're an expert in that field.:) The decision should base on what tool will make you the money instead of going for the latest or trying to buy low and sell high later.

I smell a disgruntled troll :) I have never been a fan of buying used gear, especially camera bodies(even with low hours) that are out of warranty. If I was in the market for something new and didn't have an urgent need, I would pump my breaks until NAB(60 days).

If you don't need the internal mxf then the mk ii would probably be a much better option for you.

I think the c300's image quality will stand the test of time, but it's missing features (high speed, raw, codecs, HD etc) will effect its resale value in a huge way.

I never buy anything of high value that I don't absolutely need three months before NAB. My wallet closes on December 31st.
 
Good advice all. I think I'll wait til NAB! Kinda was leaning that way, but never hurts to throw out the topic on the forum.
 
just a thought... NAB is 60 days... and how long after NAB till the camera hits the market... so the goal would be... to pay it off before then...

So what is the rumor... 4k C300 and a C500 that records internally...

Id get a c100 mk ii
-its new not used
-its better
-it will not be replaced at nab, while c300 will take a hit

The mk ii is still in its first days so it's safe to buy now. It's a better camera than the c300 unless you absolutely need the broadcast ready 4:2:2 internal codec and SDI.

Otherwise the mkii does 60p at 1080, has DPAF with face detection, built in wifi, two internal mics for scratch sound, smaller body and lighter weight, and slightly better image quality due to the new processor/downsample method, better lowlight performane, less aliasing and slightly better sharpness.
 
Ebrahim you and I may be in the minority in that thought. My 2c is the C100 II has the new processor and if you a solo shooter is great.
 
I also think C100mk2. It's brand new, is actually a very well rounded camera with all the updates and it's a joy to use.
 
Don't wait until NAB, get the C100 mkII _NOW_ and start to enjoy it. For that kinda money $5500, you won't have any other choice, unless Canon pulls a 5D out of their hat with 4K for around that price..... but I doubt it. I'd take a new C100 MKII over an old C300 any day!
 
According to Canonrumors.com Canon has said they want to make NAB 2015 a major announcement show. The main stars would be the C300 mkII with 4k capability and perhaps a new take on the C500: more Alexa like body, more substantial with a different target audience.

Of course, these cameras won't be cheap. If $5500 feels like a good clean price, you might want to think about buying something now and pay it off quick. If you are ready to make a C300 mkII level investment—by all means, hold off until NAB.
