Praktica lenses?

Has anybody used Praktica lenses on the GH1? I've been looking around, and they seem quite cheep for something reasonably fast. Would love to hear from anyone who's tried them. :)

We don't need no stinking East German lenses... but I'm sort of surprised that anyone would actually think about it...

What's next, an Exakta waist level viewfinder???

Of course the Exakta was used in "Rear Window"(1954), with its identifying logo occluded...

Praktica lenses are perfectly fine, in my opinion -- I have a Praktica MTL 5, and it's a very nice and capable slr.

What, pray tell, is wrong with these lenses? You've clearly made it out that you don't like them... do contribute something to this thread, at least, and tell why. :)

If you're surprised by someone thinking about using such a lens, then you're living in a box. :-) Think outside it, dude!

I own 2 old praktica lenses. Got them from my grandfathers old praktica cam.
- F1.8 50mm prime lens
- F2.8 135mm Prime lens

I like them. And the F1.8 50mm looks sharper then my F1.4 50mm Canon FD...

Bang for buck, these used to be the best! Nowadays, the FSU lenses shade them a little, as prices have risen. Check out examples of pictures taken with these usually great manual focus lenses at mflenses.com. The ability to see what is, is a trait most great photographers have. These lenses may or may not suit you and there are very large numbbers of them. Later lenses have a bayonet fiitting, but the others are mainly M42, with M39 or exacta/topcon also possible. Anyone seriously into photos and video who neglects these is in too much of a hurry!

Little do you know.
I use Zeiss "stinking East German" glass pretty often on commercial productions and
they look great when projected in the theater.
As a mater of fact, they are - in some aspects - superior to modern glass.

Have a look at this grasshopper. http://frankglencairn.wordpress.com/vintage-zeiss-glass-on-modern-cameras/

And by the way, there is already a DSLR loupe with a mirror out there that doubles as a waist level viewfinder.

I'll perhaps respond with a longer post, when I get my USB to Groma Kalibri adapter working. I have occasionally thought about getting an adapter for my Zeiss lenses, unfortunately the 80mm and above lenses just seem 'too long' for the GH-1. I think the shortest I may have is a 40mm, which is still a bit long for me.
