Hey young world,

So I just shot my first short and am interested in learning as much as I can. I am a multimedia designer coming into the filming world. I have been advised to join this forum and never look back.

The first question I have is when i import from my Canon XHA1 into FCP, what is the process after I capture my footage? I have been told I have to up-res it to get the full quality of my HD camera.

How do I do this? What is the process?

My equipment:
Machine Name: Power Mac G5 Quad
Machine Model: PowerMac11,2
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (1.1)
Number Of CPUs: 4
CPU Speed: 2.5 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 8 GB

Final Cut Pro 6

Canon XHA1.

Sony MiniDV HD Cassettes.

OK I have answered my own question.

I learned about Apple codecs and what not and the MPEG2 recording scheme of HDV.

So I started a new thread, Apple Intermediate Codec vs. Apple Pro Res 422?

I am learning that Apple ProRes 422 is the way to go, but I am worried I dont have an Intel mac and this codec is designed for a Intel based mac.
