Post Pictures of your AF100 Rig

af100rigg2.jpg

This is my rigg for "eng"-like shots.

-Two sennheisers
-One Swit with canon xh-a1 batterie
-Nikon 24-120mm f4
-(hoodman 400 for outdoors)

Looks great Curtis.

I bought your plate for the HMC-150 a couple of years ago, and have bee totally happy with it. Great high-quality camera mod.

Thank you. Here is a picture of it mounted on the AF100. I didn't have a 3/8" bolt to put in for the picture. Using that, the 1/4" and the 6 small screws is probably overkill but it doesn't hurt to make sure it's secure to the camera base.

Looks like you're building vertically, like a high rise building :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Does the Swit power the Senns?

Yeah the black tower... I might have experienced that the people I interviewed get nerves and scarred at the look of it. not good.

Haha, the swit does not power them ;)
And btw, I returned the nikon after a week, it is the worst lens ever in film point of view.
- Focus behind the zoom
- F4 to slow
- 24mm to late start
- Does not keep 100% focus all the way cross the zoom range
- and the focus turn the wrong way.

I got the Sigma Nikon 17-50mm f2,8. Its all good. In all aspects except the focus ring is very narrow buts thats digital life.

Hi ,I wonder what's the quality of your image when using the onboard extender , not the abelcine extender...:-)...
I have experienced quite some aberation when using fujinon 2/3 lens .. regards from Belgium...

Whoa! Is there a lens support on the front end of the lens or at the mount? I'd tend to man-handle Betacams by their lenses due to the position of the zoom rocker but would be quite paranoid with the AF100's mount.

Dave,
We do have a Berkey Systems support as well as a Cavision lens support up front while we await delivery of the MTF support which attaches onto the lens adapter itself. We are still working on a better solution so that we can use right hand to support the lens' zoom rocker. Right hand can use the zoom rocker fine but left hand is actually doing all the supporting.

JPC - We were concerned about IQ using the built-in lens doubler as well, but we were quiete pleased with the results using the Canon 6.5-78mm SD lens in the photos. You lose 2 stops so your max fstop is about f3.8 and your focal range becomes 13mm - 66mm which isn't too shabby. Upside is that we have a working zoom lens again and it's a parfocal lens. Zoom in/out and focus is maintained thruout.

The pad is actually from Portabrace...About $60 (B&H)....The lens is actually a Canon SD 6.5 to 78mm, which on the AF 100 with doubler is 13 to 156mm. We tested the 6.5 -78 against an HD Canon 4.5-59 (very expensive). The high price Canon was marginally better than our lens, but not better enough too make us switch to the higher price lens. Right now the SD Canon 6.5-78mm lens gives us par focal servo zoom with very good central resolution and adequate corner sharpness. It does not breath very much.
Paraphrasing Duke Ellington, "If it sounds good, it is good." Our general feeling is, "If it looks good, it is good." The Canon looks very good compared to our other lenses. We also use Leica zooms and primes with our AF 100. The Canon held up well enough against these lenses to be put into our lens rotation. Monkeyking and I now have to really work on the lens support system. We really don't want to snap off our lens mount with a weak lens support.
It will be interesting to see if an MTF like adapter will work with the Sony F3. Will the the image circle of B4 mount HD lenses cover adequately the larger F3 chip? We want to test the Abel Cine B4 to Micro 4/3 adapter with our lens soon. We'll keep you posted. Many thanks to Shiela Smith (the HD Canon lens test), Christina at ZGC (the adapter), and Jeff Lee at Abel Cine (Hirose-D tap cable).

Nanoflash recorder + PL Mount built in one housing

This is the setup of the camera that I use for documentary shooting. I use it on an old DVrig from DVTec to shoot handhelt. (no picture of that). I have been using the AF101 for two months now. I find the image a lot more more 'shaky' than I was used to when using a P+S Miniadapter with the Canon XL-H1S and Nanoflash.. Also the Progressive is more 'stroboscopic' than I expected. Anyone else experience this? You can't really shoot handhelt I believe without OIS (holding it in your hands I mean). But even with a shouder mount I feel like I have to shoot very slowly and walk on my toes.. I'm thinking of buying the Birger Canon adapter that is coming out at this moment and that will allow for Canon EF lenses to work with Steadyshot. Too bad for the PL mount that I built in directly instead of the Lumix Mount.. see below Cheers, Hans

Wow looks great... What would the rough overall cost of all that (minus the AF100) be new?
