Post Pictures of your AF100 Rig

I humbly submit. This is what's possible for now.

It's only really for taking stills with the GH2. To get it to do anything else, it takes work. You can do it though; I shot this little test video on the AF100 in 3D with it. If you've got red/blue glasses or can plug your computer into a 3DTV you should be able to see it in 3D...

The only shots that looked remotely 3D were the first two with the cats. Everything else looked like regular 2D. I guess it not very good on wide or far away shots.

Just a bit of a weird but working set-up for solo hand-held with the ability to pull focus somewhat precise while holding the camera controlled.....

AG-AF meeting Voigtlaender meeting Chrosziel meeting Hot-Rod....

Addendum: With Leica Elmarit 19 mm

Damn it... I want it!

Should you do it get a follow focus with a vari-stop you can adjust to two fixed points if it is in your budget. Important to have the handles near enough to the follow focus so you can move the wheel with your fingertips while still holding the camera with two hands. Needs some practising.

Main problem is with the short rails for the short lenses things can get a bit tangled - for the Voigtlaneder the solution with handles up works and is nice balance wise, for the Elmarit only with handles down as the follow focus collides with them. Will see what it does with other lenses - but it will be impractical and too shaky with anything above 35 mm I presume. Trial and error.

And make sure you train your arms - have been sloppy sports wise and already feel it....

I don't have the AF100 here to take a picture with this mounted right now but here is a prototype base plate that is almost ready for production. (bad iPhone picture...) It will be available from Specialized Communications (dvxuser advertiser) and direct. It protects the base of the camera from cracking and adds multiple 1/4" and 3/8" mounting holes just like the HVX200, HPX170 and EX1(r) camera base plates we have been offering for a couple of years. I also have some AF100 accessory arm options coming soon.

Snap Tipota! Hot Rod + Cineroid. Closest I can get to a CP16 for hand- held. Quick release to my tripod with custom baseplate and Indian shoulder pad. AF rigged handheld.jpg The Cineroid sits over the FF, very comfortable, very compact.

so it looks like you're using a 70-200mm 2.8 IS USM... what mount are you using to control the aperture, Vignetting? Is the crop factor on the lens much of an issue? I have the lens and I'm trying to decide whether i should sell it or hang on to it.

There's no way to control the aperture yet (well, short of using an EOS body, the DOF preview button, etc.). The crop factor simply makes it an effective 140-400mm lens, with no vignetting (or IS, yet). Right now these lenses are going for a premium, experiencing a bump in value because of the earthquake in Japan, and resulting shortages. Unless you need that focal length range, now might be the best time to sell the lens.

That's what I figured... too bad, I don't think I have the patience to set the aperture on a DSLR before attaching it. Plus I don't think I'll really have much use for a lens that long.

Looks nice....will get some other knick-knack's soon that I will apply - Vocas shoulder thingie probably. My local cine rental house may sell me some used gear. I love to tinker with material around a camera since my days as camera assistant. Start to really love to play with the old 19 mm Leica Elmarit now.
