Polarizer filter

Anyone using a polarizer filter with his HMC150? What's best to use with this cam, a circular or linear polarizer? Any comments?

I did some research and concluded that using one when shooting hand held is not very useful since the filter must be adjusted every time when you change the angle of your camera. So, I guess it's only useful when shooting on tripod, without panning, right?

What about a UV filter, how useful is that with this cam? Other than protecting your lens.

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to using filters; help needed! :dankk2:

I got a B+W uv haze filter works good outdoors.
The thing about filters is that they hold up a lot of dust and are a pain to clean.
But im happy that I have something protecting my lens

i use a tiffen circular polarizer, it really helps with getting good colors and to prevent the sky from getting blown out when shooting outdoors. make sure you take it off at night though, because it does make you loose a bit of light.

Yep. I hate cleaning the lens all the time. It drives me nuts. I take it the expensive B+W filters are just as hard to clean, just better glass.

I use a circular polarizer. Its great for making bluer skies, helps with reflections, and will even darken lcd screens. The problem is the lens shade makes it difficult to adust the filter, but with practise you can do it but its easy to get your finger on the lens by mistake. It works fine handheld, and you don't have to adjust it for every shot if your in a hurry, just a quick tweak when you need it.

I love my circular polarizer for outdoors. Probably not the best for run and gun type stuff but to set up shots with the sky in the frame or any type of reflections like through a windshield it is extremely valuable. When I do not have that on I constantly keep a UV on to protect the lens. It doesn't effect the image and I would much rather have that damaged than my lens.
