Podcasters prepare to launch video era

First of all, the video preview window is square, and not 4x3, and try to change that! And the crop bars could be black or white, depending on the mood of your mac.

Video is previewed in the same box as the cover art, and oh, did I mention it's square?

The video box is in the lower left corner of the main window, and try to change that!

If you want to see your videos in full size (wich is not all that much) you have to:

1) Open them in a new window (that dissapears as soon as you select a different track)
2) Sacrifice half your main window size aumenting the whole playlist column width.

So, a new window? Wow, that is great. I bet quicktime users can't do THAT!

Yeah, I find it sub par, regarding apple's other software products.

Excellent points. Shoot even the free demo videos that came with itunes 6 wouldn't play correctly for me. Oh well.

The video ipod won't be feasible for me at least until it stores the video files at full 720x486 on the drive (H.264 compression), and scales them 50% to show on the built in screen, yet delivers them full res on a video out port for connecting to a television. THAT's one slick way to carry around your reel.

I agree. I actually thought it would be possible to do all that when I first saw the specs, but then I realized it isn't. Why bother with a video out cable, if it only plays heavily compressed video at half the resolution?

I guess the device we're looking for is going to take another couple of years to be released...

Ok, so can video be rendered to run on it just to show progress shots to people or something? Like, say I'm on a shoot in L.A. and my main base of operations is Las Vegas, could I shoot my movie in L.A., render the progress footage in Quicktime/h.264 or whatever it is, and show my financers or whatever in Las Vegas what I've been shooting?

Also, can it be an external HDD to at least transport video files from a laptop or something?

I think that it will do all that. I do not have first hand knowledge with one (nobody has, AFAIK). I am sure that every filmmaker that gets on will have their reel on the thing.
