Pocket 6K Test

I just got the Blackmagic Pocket 6K. It arrived in pristine condition — no scratches (phew). I took out my slider, a zoom and a macro lens and shot some footage. You can see it here:

This was my first time editing in DaVinci Resolve and working with braw 3:1. I am still a newbie at it (usually use premiere or avid). It’s not bad and of course, it’s grading is powerful (although My knowledge is still limited).
 
The first thing you did with your new camera was take a bunch of shots of an old camera, and that camera is a Bolex. You are a film addict :)

I liked the soft white light. Was it artificial or from a window?
 
Old tech meets new tech! I got the camera Saturday afternoon. I shot and edited that Saturday night. I like a predictable subject when I am testing out a new camera. I like that the old film camera has a lot of detail and texture. I used a daylight led shooting through a big soft box. Kept it simple. I also used a second led shooting through an umbrella.
 
I’m looking to rent this for a commercial I’m shooting soon and hopefully buy one soon after. Just hopefully the rental house includes the needed accessories to make this camera work more efficiently.
 
I would say if you use it, you'll need a monitor if you plan on shooting anything that is not at eye level (because the onboard monitor doesn't swivel), a bunch of batteries or an alternative battery source (because batteries don't last long) and lots of media if you plan on shooting 6k raw. Other than those shortcomings, it's a pretty cool camera.
 
It is motorized. I could never pull that off manually. I've seen some camera guys do it. It's not easy, especially if you are shooting tight shots.
