FS7: PMW FS5 Announced.

I invested in audio and lights after getting the af100. Then one of the companies I'm working for has a fs700 and c100 I would shoot with when they needed me. I dont like how the fs700 was built. I thought the c100 didnt look cinematic. An addition I got married and that cost money. Fs5 is good timing. Either fs5 or ursa mini.

Anyone know if this has a built in mic of some form on the base? I have the C100MII and never shoot with the attached handle/xlr since I run sound externally and use the internal mic for sync. Hoping the FS5 has something similar.

me too. I need a camera for my gimbal and I don't think I would keep a detachable handle on it.
I'd rather prefer an internal mic directly in the body for reference audio...but I guess the perfect camera doesn't exist.

That's why I liked what Canon did with the C100>C100MII upgrade. They added the mic in the base unit so you didn't have to have the handle. Surprised all cameras don't have this.

I just wanted to know when slow-motion is activated if you can capture at normal frame-rate too, so you can have a slow-motion clip in between to normal footage. For example in this video https://vimeo.com/112027631 when the bike makes the jump it's slow-motion and the rest it's at normal frame rate (24p) It's possible to achieve this effect with FS5 burst mode? Thanks :-)

That is an edit effect, no(existing) camera can shoot two different frame rates at the same time. Ramping like in that video is done either by speeding up slow motion footage, or a manual ramp on a dial/program on a typically higher end camera. kinda of put the "vari" in Varicam (aside from other vari-ables)

Does anyone knows if it was already clarified: does fs5 has got 2K or 4K OLPF? One would assumce 4K but maybe because it's really more FHD oriented camera they've installed 2K one?

Anyone know how the Fs5 is doing this clear zoom.. or what ever its called.. presumably only in HD and something like the CC function, making use of the 4K sensor size ? ..

FS5 does the this new Clear Image Zoom in both HD and UHD. Ratio is 2x in HD and 1.6 in UHD. In testing it with a prototype camera, it is pretty impressive. Might be the identical technology to other Sony cameras using it, so you could always check out the A7r II or the RX10 II to see it in action.

Thanks for the info.. didnt know it was in other camera,s.. never heard of it before..I wonder how they do it without some image degradation .. yet we cant get CC as an assign on the F5/55 !
